Bereavement DEATH NOTICE: FATHER IN LAW OF REV NQAKWANA; MR MNOTHISWA SIKWAYO

It is with deep sadness to inform you that Mr. Mnothiswa Sikwayo, the father-in-law of the Revd. P.Nqakwana passed away. May he rest in eternal peace. Mr Mnothiswa Sikwayo (Mrs. Zodidi Nqakwana’s father) is from Mcobothini Village in Lusikisiki. The funeral details will be announced later.

Rev Nqakwana is a minister of Mbonda Congregation within the bounds of the East Griqualand Presbytery. Let us uphold both families in our prayers.

DEATH NOTICE: MAMA MORAKA ESTELIN MOABELO (REV NEMAUKHWE’S MOTHER IN LAW)

It is with sadness to announce that Mama Moraka Estelin Moabelo passed away on the 3rd January 2023. She was the mother of Mrs Mokgadi Nemaukhwe the wife of the Rev. A.R Nemaukhwe who is the minister at William Samson Memorial Congregation, within the Presbytery of Limpopo. May she rest in eternal peace.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday 08 January 2023.

May we keep the Moabelo and Nemaukhwe families in our prayers.

NOTICE OF DEATH: Mrs Elizabeth Judy Chigwida (nee Garbe)- widow of our late Moderator Rev Max T Chigwida

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing on of Mrs. Elizabeth Judy Chigwida, widow of our late Moderator Rev Max T Chigwida. She passed away this morning (Sunday the 13th of November 2022) at her residence.

Mourners are gathered at 30 Moorgate Road, Northwood, Harare.

Funeral arrangements will be availed as soon as they are in place. She has run her race and kept her faith.

Let us remember the Chigwida family in our prayers in this difficult time. Especially her two sons Tongai and Collin, her daughter-in-law Malynn, and her grandson Colin.

Notice of death : Gogo Sylvia Cetyiwe Nonjojo, mother of Revd. VW. Nonjojo

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

 

It is with deep sadness to inform you about the passing away of Mama Sylvia Cetyiwe Nonjojo, the mother of Revd. VN Nonjojo, on the 27th of September 2022. May her soul rest in peace.

The funeral service will be held on the 6th of October 2022, as follows: 

1. Holy Communion service will be at 7h00 – 8h00 at Gillespie Presbyterian Sanctuary.

2. Memorial service will be at 9h00 kwa Nonjojo Residence eBhetshwana Village in Mt. Ayliff. 

3. The interment service will follow.

Mama Sylvia Cetyiwe Nonjojo was a member of the Fellowship of Women. The Revd. VN Nonjojo is a minister without charge, after retirement from a secondment to the SANDF Chaplains’ Service. She is within the Presbytery of East Griqualand.

Let’s uphold in our prayers the Nonjojo family as they mourn the passing of Mama Sylvia.

Bereavements REV DOUG BIRTILL PASSED AWAY

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

 

It is with sadness to announce that the Rev Doug Birtill passed away. May he rest in peace. The funeral service will be held at Cambridge Presbyterian Church, East London, Amathole Presbytery on Friday, the 26th of August 2022, beginning promptly at 14h30. 

Doug was a minister emeritus and had spent his time between the Central Cape and Amathole Presbyteries. May we continue to uphold his wife, Joan, and the entire Birtill family in prayer during this difficult time.

DEATH NOTICE: REV IAN VAN DER LINGEN PASSED AWAY

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

It is with deep sadness to announce that the Rev Ian van der Lingen passed away. Ian was the father of the late Rev Greg van der Lingen and the father-in-law of the Rev Shona van der Lingen who is a minister at St Columba’s Presbyterian in Kokstad, within the Presbytery of East Griqualand. Ian was a retired minister, living in Stilfontein within the bounds of the Presbytery of Lekoa. May he rest in peace.

BEREAVEMENT Rev Brian Alexander Thom

Please receive this message from Jeremy Thom, the son of the Rev Brian Alexander Thom.

 

Hi Christina, just wanted to let the South African Presbyterian church know that my dad, Brian Alexander Thom has passed away last week on the 9th Aug 2022 aged 81.

Dad was ordained Presbyterian minister in SA before moving to New Zealand. Just wondering if you could pass on this information to the denomination.

His memorial service will be held on the 27th of August 2022, at around 6am South African time, and will be live streamed if anyone would like to join us to celebrate his life & ministry. I will send you a link to the service when it’s available.

RE: NOTICE OF THE PASSING ON OF THE REV SAMUEL MTONGA

Greetings to you from the UPCSA, Synod of Zambia.
On behalf of the UPCZ, I regret to inform you of the demise of the soldier of
Christ, the Rev Samuel Mtonga. The Servant of the Lord passed on this
evening (4th July,2022) at the University Teaching Hospital, Lusaka after a
short illness. The funeral gathering is at the manse, Chelstone Congregation,
in Lusaka.

The Rev Mtonga served as a minister at Chipata Presbyterian Church in
Eastern Province, Kanyama Congregation in Lusaka and concluded his
ministerial and life’s journel, at Chelstone Presbyterian Church, Lusaka.

The funeral arrangements shall be communicated as soon as they are
concluded.

His wife, Judith Miti, the children, the extended family and the entire Synod
of Zambia seeks your prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral Arrangements for the Rev H Grant and Rev Ngogela’s Mother in Law

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA,

 

A.           The Rev Hugh Grant

The late Rev. Hugh Grant’s memorial service shall be conducted in Afrikaans through utube link on 20/06/2022

–             His body shall be cremated therefore no burial

–              At the time of his death, he was a member of NG Kerk therefore all the proceedings shall be conducted by the church.

This is the information received from Mrs. Mitta Grant the wife of the late Rev Hugh Grant.

 

B.           Mrs Ngogela – Rev Ngogela’s Mother in Law     

This serves to inform you that the funeral of Rev Ngogela’s mother-in-law has been changed to 24 June 2022, because of another Ngogela funeral on Saturday 25 June. The funeral will be held at Methodist Church in Fort Beaufort township just

about 1km from the family residence at no16 Grahamstown Road, opposite the last garage in town on the way to Adelaide ( Engen garage). It will start at 10h00 .

Let us continue to uphold the families in prayer.
