BEREAVEMENT Death notice of Elder Siphokazi Mtwa

DEATH NOTICE: ELDER SIPHOKAZI MTWA
It is with sadness to announce the passing away of Elder Siphokazi Mtwa of Diepkloof Zone 3 on Sunday evening 9 th April. Elder Mtwa has been a commissioner to General Assembly and served in different committees of the General Assembly.
Funeral details are as follows: Date: 15 April 2023 Venue: Diepkloof Hall Time: 09:00am – 12:00pm then proceed to Wespark cemetry
The body will arrive at home at 09:00am on the 15th April.
May we uphold her family during this difficult time.
May her soul rest in eternal peace

BEREAVEMENT DEATH NOTICE: CHIEF PROF ELDER MADODA SHADRACK ZIBI OF KHAYAKHULU

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

 

It is with sadness to announce the passing away of Chief Madoda Shadrack Zibi on Saturday morning, the 8th of April 2023. May he rest in peace. The funeral service will be held at the AmaHlubi Great Place in Khayakhulu on Saturday, the 15th of April 2023 at 09:00.

 

Chief Zibi was an elder who was very instrumental in the establishment and sustenance of the Khayakhulu Congregation which is on the outskirts of Rustenburg, within the Presbytery of Tshwane. He was the longest serving Clerk of the Session of that Congregation.

 

He was the Chief of AmaHlubi in the Khayakhulu area. He served as the Charman of North West Province of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA) and also served in the national structure of the Congress.  

 

He was a retired Professor of Humanities from the University of North West where he also served as a Deputy Vice Chancellor.  

 

Please keep Mrs Zibi and the family, amaHlubi people under the chiefdom and the Khayakhulu Congregation in our prayers.

BEREAVEMENT Notice of death – the Rev Gerald Posthumus

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

I am sad to inform you that Rev Gerald Posthumus passed away peacefully at his home on 1st March 2023 after a long battle with illness. Rev Posthumus was medically boarded and was living in Durban with Trish his wife. They are members of Glenwood Presbyterian Church.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday 7th March 2023 at 14:00 at Glenwood Presbyterian Church, 339 Esther Roberts Road, Glenwood, Durban.

Please pray for Trish and the family as they go through this time of loss and grief.

Mr Edmund Mkentane and Mrs Elize Larsen

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

It is with deepest sadness to announce the passing away of the following:

 

  1. Mr Edmund Mkentane, the father of Rev BZ Mkentane, passed away on Saturday, the 25th of February 2023. Rev Mkentane is a minister of EN Bono Memorial Congregation within the Presbytery of Amathole. The family home is at KwaNomadolo location, Ngqeleni within the Presbytery of Mthatha. That is where the funeral will take place.  Further details will be shared as and when they become available. 

Mr Mkentane was a commissioner to the General Assembly for several years.

  1. Mrs ELize Larsen, the widow of the late Rev Laurits Larsen, passed away on Sunday, the 26th of February 2023. Elize’s memorial service will be held at the Hill Church, within the Presbytery of Central Cape on Friday 3rd March 2023 at 11am.

Let us please uphold the Mkentane and Larsen families in our prayers. May the departed rest in eternal peace.

Bereavement Passing of Elder Emeritus Patrick Mpepele

Dear Presbytery,
It is with a heavy heart to inform you of the passing of Elder Emeritus Patrick Mpepele of Mabopane Presbyterian Church.
He met his end Saturday 19 February 2023.
Funeral service will be on Saturday 25 February 2023.

Bereavement Betty Woolson

Dear loved one’s.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear angel Betty. Betty was an Elder Commissioner at St Francis Presbyterian Church.

She was a source of endless love, comfort and joy in our lives and her absence leaves a void that is truly indescribable.

She was surrounded by all her family final moments.

With deep sadness, I hereby announce that Mrs Jean Bernhardi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday 17 January at their home in Darling. She was the wife of the Rev Ian Bernhardi . May she rest in eternal peace. The funeral service for Jean will be at the Darling Presbyterian Church on Wednesday 25 January 2023 at 11am.

BEREAVEMENT DEATH NOTICE: MRS PATRICIA COOK PASSED AWAY

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

It is with sadness to announce that Mrs. Patricia Cook (widow of the late past moderator, Rev Prof Calvin Cook) passed away peacefully on Sunday, the 8th of January 2023, aged 96. May she rest in eternal peace.

Funeral details will be announced when available. Mrs. Cook was within the Presbytery of Drakensberg. Let us uphold the Cook family in our prayers.

Mrs Cook’s memorial service will take place at the Amber Glen Retirement Home Chapel, Howick on Saturday, the 14th of January 2023 at 11am.
